About HairAdvice

HairAdvice is a small site with one job: help you figure out what your hair actually is before you buy another product for it. Most routines fail because they were written for someone else's hair.

How the quiz works

The quiz is a fixed set of rules, written out by hand and running in your browser. It scores porosity from five observations (soak speed, dry time, product behavior, chemical history, heat use), takes curl pattern from the shape and width you describe, and builds a routine from those plus thickness, scalp and water hardness. Same answers, same result, every time. No answers are sent to us or stored.

It is general guidance, not a diagnosis. Hair loss, scalp pain, persistent flaking or sudden changes in texture are worth showing to a dermatologist.

How the site makes money

Product links go to specific Amazon listings, and each quiz step also links to a wider search so you can compare. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We name a product when its own listing says it does the job the step calls for (a chelating shampoo, a spray leave-in, a heat spray). We don't show prices or star ratings because they change daily.
